All our Domestic Energy Assessors are fully qualified and Government Certified to issue an Energy Performance Certificate and are covered by professional indemnity insurance when visiting your home.


As part of the accreditation scheme all of our assessors have passed a Police Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check, which gives you further peace of mind about the whole process.

What is a Domestic Energy Assessor

A Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) is an individual that has studied for and completed an Energy Assessment diploma successfully. Each Energy Assessors then has to obtain a unique property assessor reference number from a central government register.


The accreditation scheme is responsible for ensuring the quality of energy inspections and Energy Performance Certificates. This is important as Energy Performance Certificates is a legal obligation, and consumers need to be protected.


The accreditation schemes will:

  • Provide standards, procedures and codes of conduct that members are expected to adhere to.
  • Ensure that all their members are qualified to conduct an energy assessment, and produce the Certificate and its accompanying advice and recommendations.
  • Make sure that Energy Assessors have appropriate professional indemnity.
  • Provide a register of Domestic Energy Assessors.
  • Ensure that Energy Assessors are 'fit and proper'.
  • Provide a route for continuing professional development.
  • Offer a process to enable complaints to be resolved.
  • Check Energy Assessors for competency.
  • Actively monitor quality assurance of Energy Performance Certificate.
  • Validate reports before lodgement.
